The Dun Siog Cup will be presented to the Champion riding horse. Qualifiers for this are first place in lightweight, mediumweight, heavyweight and small hunter. 

Winner of Champion Riding Horse will qualify to compete in the overall Champion Horse of the Show held in the large ring at the end of the day.

Full address and Eircode must be supplied for all entries. Prize money will be paid by cheque after the show. Please note that a 5% ISA levy will be deducted from all prize money.

UNDERAGE RIDERS:
Any rider under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Horse riding is a dangerous sport. While mounted, all competitors and ride judges must wear suitable protective headgear, compliant with current safety standards and securely fastened at all times.

Riding Horses - Opening Notes

Dún Síog Cup – Champion Riding Horse

Presented to the Champion Riding Horse, selected from 1st prize winners in the Lightweight, Mediumweight, Heavyweight Riding Horse and Small Hunter classes.

Prizes: Champion €40 · Reserve €25

The Champion Riding Horse will qualify for the Overall Champion Horse of the Show in the Large Ring at the end of the day.

Ridden classes judged on rideability, manners, movement and conformation. An individual show (max. 2 minutes) may be required and should include walk, trot, canter, simple change, rein back, strike off on required leg, gallop, halt and stand. The judge may ride.

Horses to be shown in a snaffle or double bridle with a well-fitted saddle. Riders must be 16 years or over.

 

The Dun Siog Cup will be presented to the champion riding horse.

All classes are subject to a minimum of five (5) entries for 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes to be awarded.
Where fewer than five entries are received, 1st prize only will be awarded.

The horse and pony classes bring elegance and excitement to the Dundalk Show. Featuring a range of classes, these competitions showcase well-presented animals, skilled handling and a deep appreciation for Ireland’s strong equestrian tradition.
